Looking for an elusive transaction?

Sometimes things come up in YNAB that cause me to scratch my head in puzzlement. That happened today and I came up with an easy way to figure it out, so I thought I’d share it with you.

When I logged into YNAB this morning there was $54.38 in Ready to Assign in my business budget. I had no idea why. I wanted to know where the money came from before assigning it.

I looked in my checking account register and there was no sign of a recent (or any) transaction in that amount. And then I did this: I clicked All Accounts and searched on the amount. Voilà! There it was!

I had forgotten that yesterday afternoon I had looked up and entered the interest I’d received on my high-yield savings account, then went about my business before assigning the money. That account is on the bottom of my account list, so I hadn’t yet looked at it.

Next time you have a mystery like that, try searching in All Accounts!
